Sunlit Sonata

Archival giclee reproductions of "Sunlit Sonata" by Ellen Rice are available for $65 including shipping within the continental United States via her other website, www.ellenrice.gallery/sunlit-sonata.html

The softly lit painting's giclee prints are 8" x 10" including margins, and signed and titled in pencil by Ellen in the lower margin.

"I rarely paint this small, but I'd ordered sample linen panels and when stuck on a much larger and more involved oil, I decided to take a break and do something small on one of the samples. The soft colors of an old photo of the coast 2 miles from my home drew me, and as I painted I found myself reigning myself in to keep subject simple, calming. I could hear the rhythm of the waves and sense the water washing over my feet.

"The original sold to the first person who saw it and the prints are doing surprisingly well, too."

"Lesson learned: sometimes the best things come easily. Not all paintings have to be complex and vibrant to touch people."
