Storm Rider

​When a hurricane is off of the coast, one of the first things I like to do is check out the surf, shoot photographs and see what local surfers are doing, usually but not always, after the storm has passed. Post hurricane waves even in the Mid-Atlantic can be 30 feet.

One surfer on this day kept catching wave after wave while others backed off. Those waves can be pretty intimidating. I endeavored to capture one of those moments in this painting.
